About the Department
BBC Media Action is the International Development arm of BBC World Service.
BBC Media Action believes in the power of media and communication to help
reduce poverty and support people in claiming their rights. Our aim is to
inform, connect and empower people around the world and audience is at the
heart of all we do.
This may involve liaising with local broadcasters in India to increase
awareness of HIV/AIDS, training journalists in Ukraine, using radio to teach
basic literacy skills to people in Somalia or working with girls and young women
in the Middle East to express their aspirations for the future. These projects
are funded by a variety of external donors.

About the Placement
We are looking for flexible applicants who would be prepared to participate
in a range of tasks from project research to filing.
General support duties might include administrative assistance, delivering
radio programmes to other WS departments, visa applications, project research,
filing, compiling production paperwork, project portfolios, general project
support etc. You may also be asked to assist with financial duties.
Criteria
The successful applicant should be flexible and enthusiastic with an interest in BBC radio programmes and developing countries.
We welcome applications from ethnic minority communities and
disabled applicants.
Educational Criteria: The successful applicant
should have good numeracy and IT skills. This includes use of the Internet.
