The Department

The Blue Room is BBCs consumer lab. The Blue Room was set up to investigate the impact of the rapidly changing consumer marketplace in the context of potential new platforms for BBC output and the changing nature of consumer behaviour.

We run Blue Room tours for members of staff that are designed to help them understand the changes that are effecting both the industry and there roles within the BBC.

We have approximately 4 staff working in the department including, demonstators, technologist, administation staff.

The Placement

The candidate will gain experience of working in a BBC technology demonstration area.

This will give them opportunity to get ‘hand on’ knowledge of latest consumer technology and an appreciation of how it relates to the broadcast industry.

The placement will include the opportunity to give a technology demonstration to staff/guests of the Blue Room.

Criteria

We’re looking for applicants with a keen interest in technology and broadcasting in television , radio and online.

You should be inquisitive about ‘new and emmerging technologies and how that may effect broadcasting in the future.

Two key attributes of a member of the Blue Room team is confidence with technology and excellent communication skills.

We welcome applicants from all educational backgrounds.
 
This placement can be part time 2/3 days a week
