College Open Days Cambridge - Booking Open

College open days

Cambridge students are admitted by Colleges, not departments, so College open days give you the opportunity to pick up a wide range of useful information (College open days cover all courses offered by the College unless otherwise indicated). The Admissions Tutor will introduce the College and you’ll be shown round the grounds and facilities, probably by some of the students. Directors of Studies will discuss in detail the University’s courses and the College supervision system, and outline any specific admissions requirements their College might have. On the full-day programmes you’ll also have lunch in the College hall or buttery.
Due to limits on numbers, you need to book a place to attend a College open day. Please note that visiting a particular College doesn’t commit you to applying to that College: you can attend whichever College open day is convenient for you and apply to any College (or make an open application) afterwards.

Summer School - Economics in Milan at the Universita Bocconi - deadline 30th April

Universita Bocconi announces 2013 Discover Your Talent Week

Go To University Abroad -
Study Economics in Milan
15th April 2013
About Universita Bocconi

Universita Bocconi
Universita Bocconi is one of Italy's most respected universities. Its reputation in the areas of economic and finance is known around the world. Bocconi is a highly selective university and it has a strong desire to increase the number of international students taking part in its bachelor programmes. If you are considering applying to the very best universities in the United Kingdom, we recommend that you look at what Bocconi has to offer.
Dear Ms,

We bring you exciting news of a fantastic opportunity for students interested in studying business, economics and finance at university.

Universita Bocconi in Milan, Italy organise the Discover Your Talent week to give international students a flavour of what studying at the Bocconi is like and whether the University is for them.

Last year 14 British students took advantage of this opportunity and some of them are enrolling there this October to take their full undergraduate degree.
If you know of students who are giving serious thought to studying economics at university we are confident that they will find this a once in a lifetime opportunity that you will not want to miss.

Please pass on this information to relevant students and teachers of economics, maths and business.

About Discover Your Talent

During the Summer Week, that will be organized on 1st to 5th July 2013, your students will have the opportunity to:
  • Experience 5 days on Bocconi's urban campus;
  • Attend academic level classes among the subjects that comprise the Bachelor of International Economics, Management and finance;
  • Meet senior students and professors who will give your students an insight into academic and student life at Bocconi;
  • Sit a special entry test valid for admission to 2014-2015 Bachelor programmes;
  • Meet foreign students from all around Europe as well as Italian students;
  • Discover Milan and the Italian way of life!
Students from all around Europe and the world will be attending Discover Your Talent this summer.

Download the flyer for DYT here!

How does it work?

Students who are interested in attending the summer week must be in their second to last year of sixth form or college. They should be taking their AS levels this summer. They must be intending to study maths and/or economics to A level and will be expected to achieve at least a B grade in all your subjects.

Students also need to demonstrate a good "grade point average" which basically means they need to have good GCSE grades (certainly A or A*grades in most subjects).

If one of your students wishes to attend the summer school there is an online application form where they can start the procedure. A teacher's letter of recommendation may be required - usually we find that economics teachers need to be involved but it may be possible through Sixth Form tutors or Head of Year.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 30th April 2013.

Students will be notified in mid-May if they are successful.

There is no cost involved in attending the Discover Your Talent week.
Students will have to pay for the cost of getting to Milan from the UK and their accommodation for the week but meals (lunch and dinner) are included free of charge from Monday 1st July to Friday 5th July.

For further information please feel free to contact A Star Future or Universita Bocconi directly. You can reach them by phone: 00 39 025836 5819 or email.

If your students are looking for world class higher education opportunities in economics and finance then this could be one of the best chances they get to experience it. I wish them all luck with the application process and I hope to hear from any student who takes up this chance to study in Milan.

Best regards,

Mark Huntington

Debate Chamber Summer Schools - Ages 15-18

 Debate Chamber

Summer Schools 2013

The Debate Chamber Summer Schools offer students 15-18 the opportunity to find out more about their favourite subjects, prepare for university applications, and enjoy a completely new approach to learning.
Working in small groups over several days means a real chance to get to know your tutors and fellow students. The material will be challenging (about the level of difficulty you might expect in your first year at university), but a relaxed atmosphere, with plenty of discussion, debate, and opportunity for students to shape the direction of classes creates the perfect environment for getting to grips with new ideas.
Our Summer Schools are about much more than just lectures and seminars. For example, the English Summer School includes poetry composition workshops, play readings and tickets to a performance at Shakespeare’s Globe. The Summer Law School includes a visit to the Inns of Court and Royal Courts of Justice as well as a full Mock Trial in which students take on the role of Crown Court barristers.
