MI5 - Language Analyst

Use Your Language

MI5 keeps communities safe by watching for and disrupting threats to our national security. Part of our work involves listening to telephone calls intercepted under warrant. That’s where you can play your part – using your language skills to listen for vital clues in what seem like everyday conversations.
We have developed a quiz that reflects the nature of the work of our Foreign Language Analysts to enable you to assess your suitability for the role. Take this challenge to check your listening skills and ability to recall detail. When you have finished, try the language test exercise on the next page.
If you do not have Adobe Flash Player installed, you can download a free copy opens in a new window so that you can try our challenge. Alternatively you can try a non-Flash version of the challenge.
