Career Workshops and Events

Need some career guidance?

Make sure to look out for events and careers fairs that are aimed at giving guidance and advice for getting into the arts industry. Here are some events to look out for:
TheatreCraft
TheatreCraft offers young people access to theatre and industry professionals, giving them a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes. A day-long event, it offers workshops, talks, demonstrations and displays from leading theatre practitioners and training providers. It’s informal, fun and interactive and provides a wealth of information and ideas.
Open Up
This exciting project opens up the doors of the Royal Opera House to students who want to learn about the skills, people and activities that make an international opera house work. Open Up is being made available to any Creative and Media Diploma, BTEC or vocational students in the fields of backstage, performance or creative industries.
Bright Space
Bright Space organise a creative careers festival in Birmingham for 13-18 year olds. Check out the events board on Bright Space’s website for the latest information.
Creative Partnerships
Check out the events board for information about events taking place in your area.
University of the Arts, London
The University of the Arts, London hosts a variety of informative workshops and events that help people who are starting out with their careers in the creative and cultural industries. These events are not all open to non-members of the university but it is worth checking the website for details of the programme of lectures on offer.
Young People in the Arts
Young People in the Arts (YPIA) is a social network site for young professionals at the outset of their career in the arts. YPIA promotes an annual programme of talks and debates, and monthly opportunities to network with other people who work in the arts. YPIA events are open to everyone.
London Apprenticeships Week
Apprenticeship week is a chance to get involved and celebrate apprenticeships. London Apprenticeship Company (LAC) will be hosting and attending a range of activities throughout the week, so keep updated to see how you can get involved.
Universities and Colleges
Universities and colleges often run career events tailored to specific industries. Enquire at the careers office for information about workshops and events for the Creative and Cultural sector.
