British Army Undergraduate Bursary

Undergraduate Bursary

The Army Undergraduate Bursary gives students financial security whilst they study for their degree.
It allows you to make the most of all the opportunities that university has to offer whilst guaranteeing excellent training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) after graduation. This will not only stand you in good stead for a challenging and rewarding career as an officer, but will prove invaluable should you eventually wish to move on to a career outside the Army.
The Army grants more than 150 Bursaries a year, typically with a value of £6,000 each – this comprises £1,000 per annum at university and £3,000 on completion of training at RMAS (based on 3 years at University with a bursary throughout: students on a 4-year degree course, with a bursary throughout, will receive £7,000 in total).
You can apply if:
  • You have applied to the Army Officer Selection Board (AOSB) for selection as an Army Officer, or if you have already passed the AOSB.
  • You have a confirmed place for a recognised first degree at a UK university or college of higher education. Those with a conditional acceptance may apply but the award depends on confirmation of acceptance.
